Record Set in 2017 WDE Youth Showmanship Contest
MADISON, WIS. – A record-breaking 424 youth exhibitors competed in the 2017 World Dairy Expo® Youth Showmanship Contest on Thursday, October 5. Youth showmen from around the globe competed for top honors in Junior, Intermediate and Senior Showmanship Divisions. Winning the Junior Division, the W. Terry Howard Award and clippers from Andis Company was Brianna Meyer of Chilton, Wis.; the Intermediate Division, the Howard Voegeli Award and clippers from Andis Company were won by Taylor Vander Meulen of Brighton, Ont.; and Mikayla Endres of Lodi, Wis. clenched the Senior Division, the Keith King Award and a semen tank courtesy of MVE Cooperative. The top 15 winners of each division received neck ribbons and medallions from E-Zee Milking Equipment, LLC, and the top ten winners received a cash prize. Other awards given were custom-embroidered jackets, sponsored by FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative to the first place finishers and clippers courtesy of Andis Company to the second place finisher in the Senior Division.
Laura Phoenix, Marketing Assistant at KFB Financial Services and co-owner of Far-Row Holsteins, Woodville, Ont., Norm McNaughton, owner of Comrie Farms in London, Ont. and David Crack, Dairy Solutions Director at CIAQ and owner of Crackholm Holsteins, Richmond, Qué, Canada, placed the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Divisions, respectively.
